Current Grant Schemes - May 2017

Tees Valley (Darlington, Hartlepool, Stockton, Middlesbrough, Redcar and Cleveland)

1.     Capital Grant Scheme

·         Grants of £10k plus towards capital expenditure projects of total value of £33k+ with employment outputs (creation or safeguarding)

·         SMEs can get support of around 30% of capex (or more in some cases)

·         Large company’s (250+ employees at group level) can get support of up to 25% of capex

·         As well as capex limits the level of grant is also benchmarked against total employment outputs and the scheme typically works to £10k of grant per job created and / or safeguarded

2.     Tees Valley Business Compass 

·         Grants of up to 33% of the costs of third party consultancy in support of business development and growth projects

·         Covers wide range of consultancy projects ranging from marketing strategy to quality management systems, factory layout reviewed and efficiency programmes

·         Also can offer:

 i.      Broadband vouchers to support investment in broadband infrastructure

ii.      Energy efficiency vouchers towards investment in energy efficient equipment

iii.      Innovation vouchers to support R&D projects and access to….

3.     Innovate Tees Valley

·         Free and subsidised consultancy, access to technical expertise and use of facilities to support SMEs to work on product and service innovation

·         Access to experts and facilities of Teesside University, Materials Processing Institute, NEPIC and Digital City

 

York, North Yorkshire and East Riding

4.     Let’s Grow North and East Yorkshire

·         Grants of £25k plus towards capital expenditure projects of total value of £90k+ with employment outputs (creation or safeguarding)

·         SMEs can get support of up to 30% of capex

·         Large company’s (250+ employees at group level) can get support of up to 10% of capex

·         As well as capex limits the level of grant is also benchmarked against total employment outputs and the scheme typically works to £10k of grant per job created and / or safeguarded

5.     SPARK

·         Innovation vouchers of up to £20k and innovation grants of up to £50k

·         SMEs only with support of up to 40%

·         Aimed at collaborative projects with SMEs working with external experts including universities and industry specialists

 

North East (Northumberland, Tyne & Wear, County Durham)

6.     Manufacturing Growth Programme 

·         Up to 4 half day fully funded consultancy sessions with industry experts focused on overall business growth planning for SMEs only (<250 employees at group level)

7.     North East Business Support Fund

·         Up to 35% funding for business improvement projects costing between £3,000 and £8,000 (maximum grant of £2,800)

·         Grant can support a wide-range of business improvement programmes from marketing and web design to financial or human resources planning

 

Leeds City Region (Leeds, Bradford, Calderdale, Kirklees, Barnsley, Wakefield, Selby, York, Craven, Harrogate)

8.     LEP Grants

·         Grants of between £10k and £250k towards capital expenditure projects of total value of £50k+ with employment outputs (creation or safeguarding)

·         SMEs only - support of up to 30% of capex available

·         As well as capex limits the level of grant is also benchmarked against total employment outputs and the scheme typically works to £10k-£12.5k of grant per job created and / or safeguarded

9.     Digital Enterprise voucher scheme

·         Grants of between £1,000 and £5,000 towards investment in IT hardware, software or digital connectivity upgrades (e.g. broadband infrastructure)

·         Grants capped at 40% of cost and equipment must be purchased outright rather than leased

·         SMEs only (>250 employees)

·         Must be linked to economic growth (like for like replacement not eligible)

 

Various Locations

10.   LEADER 

·         Funding of up to £35K (max 40% of capex) towards investment by rural businesses in productivity, diversification, tourism and cultural projects

11.   RDPE 

·         Funding of up to £170k (or more in certain circumstances) for rural business (and some non-rural food processing businesses) towards capital investment programmes aimed at growth, diversification and tourism projects
