Tees Valley Apprentice Grants for Employers

Businesses in the Tees Valley can benefit from grant support of up to £2,500 towards the recruitment of apprentices aged 19+ via the Tees Valley Combined Authority Apprenticeship Support for Employers scheme.

To be eligible apprentices must be aged 19 or over, start their learning between 1 August 2017 and 31 July 2018 and be working towards a recognised sector specific qualification from the Apprenticeship Standards or Frameworks, delivered by a training provider approved by the Education Skills Funding Agency (ESFA).

Eligible employers must be based in the Tees Valley (Darlington, Hartlepool, Redcar and Cleveland, Middlesbrough and Stockton-On-Tees) have fewer than 250 employees (at group level), have been trading for a minimum of 12 months and be in one of 6 priority sectors:

  • Advanced manufacturing
  • Process, chemicals and energy
  • Logistics
  • Health and biologics
  • Digital and creative
  • Business and professional services

Employers outside of the priority sectors may still be eligible for funding of up to £1,000 if they have fewer than 50 employees and the apprentice is aged between 19 and 24 on commencement of their learning.
