Development comes first at Clive Owen LLP

At Clive Owen LLP, we believe that supporting and upskilling our teams is crucial to our success.

In my role as recruitment and training advisor, I see day-to-day the impact that our training programme has on all members of the team, from those who have been with us for a month to those who have been with us for a decade. There really is no limit to learning, and at Clive Owen, we foster that mindset in everything that we do.

In 2021, we launched our bespoke training programme after recognising the importance of retaining and upskilling our teams. The Aspire programme consists of 4 elements, including growth and management development and has been well received by our teams.

We are also delighted to have been re-accredited with gold membership of the prestigious 5% club. This award recognises our efforts to support earn and learn roles and create an inclusive culture of progression and togetherness. I am pleased to say that currently, 32% of our colleagues are undertaking training, this ranges from certification in accountancy to IT and everything in between!

The firm really is a lifelong learning organisation and I get great pleasure for watching our teams grow and develop and being a small part of that process, supporting them on their journey.

This year, we have taken on many new recruits, including a cohort of seven students in the summer. I am proud that we can give so many young people a rewarding career in accountancy. The firm has been operating this trainee scheme for over 20 years, and some of our existing partners started on this same journey. (Although I won’t say how many years ago!) Our new starters have also benefited from the introduction of our buddy scheme. Having somebody there to offer both technical and pastoral support is incredibly valuable for each member of our team.

As we continue to grow as a firm, we need our people to grow with us. We have seen year-on-year progression, and I am looking forward to seeing where the future takes us. Being recognised again by the 5% club has made me immensely proud, and it showcases the hard work that our teams put in on a daily basis.
