Career History

I joined a national firm in 2015 as a tax graduate commencing with my ATT studies. I obtained my ATT qualification during that time.

Before joining Clive Owen, I worked for a large independent firm based across the North of England, joining the firm at the beginning of the global COVID-19 pandemic, so it was interesting time to start a new job. During my time here, I passed my final CTA examination.

Experience and expertise

Throughout my career, I have provided corporation tax compliance services for a wide range of clients, from traditional OMB businesses to companies forming part of wider international groups, offering pragmatic tax advice whilst building strong relationships with Directors and internal finance functions.

Building strong working relationships with clients has helped to identify value added advice such as R&D tax relief opportunities as well as enhanced capital allowance claims, navigating clients through that process to take as much of the burden away from clients to enable the to focus on running their businesses.

Did you always want to be an accountant?

At school I always had an interest in numbers and economics, which pushed me towards an accounting and finance degree at university. Studying at university helped guide me down the route of seeking a career in tax upon graduating.

Hobbies and interests

During my spare time I coach a local u10’s junior football team for the same club I played for as a child. I have coached teams since the since the age of 17.

I am a lifelong been a Newcastle United supporter, so over the years I have seen I haven’t seen too many highlights, but I do remember the highs of the Champions League back in the early 2000s.

More recently my Partner and I welcomed our first born so weeknights and weekends are focussed around family time. Whilst not spending time with my family or football coaching, I do like to try and keep fit, whether that be the gym or running.
