Career History
After gaining a degree in Mathematics, I intended to have a career in Chemical Engineering. However, my father was a Partner in the very firm I work at today and I had done my work experience here which gave me a chance to consider this as a career. Whilst training at the firm, I decided that it was the right option for me.
Given my previous lab work at school, which had resulted in some disastrous experiments, perhaps I wasn’t cut out for working with chemicals anyway!
Qualifications
BSC Hons – Mathematics
Experience and expertise
I started my accountancy journey at Clive Owen LLP back in 2012 and, after qualifying in 2015, I’ve gradually moved up the ladder, from a trainee-come cup of tea maker, which I wasn’t very good at, to becoming a manager. I’ve been involved in various audits from corporate audits of SMEs, academy audits, grant audits, teachers’ pension audits and solicitor audits. This has been beneficial for me as I have become very adaptable to different environments.
During that time, I have also dealt with clients who operate in a number of different markets from the production of animal food products to clients who are also accountancy firms themselves. Using my experience, I can offer a high-quality, compliant service to clients, with a real focus on adding value to a business.

Career highlights
Going out to visit clients as a trainee and now a manager to see how their businesses operate, especially clients who produce their own products on site. I also enjoy offering help to clients when they need it.
Did you always want to be an accountant?
After completing work experience at the family accountancy firm as a teenager, I always said I would never become an accountant! I quickly realised, however, that accountancy was right for me. I am glad I made that decision as it has enabled me to work with so many different clients and make lots of connections over the years.
Hobbies and interests
I’m currently enjoying watching my one-year-old grow and learn new things each day. When she eventually goes to sleep, I find some time to enjoy my previous hobby of video gaming.
